Description
Following the Huguenots' path of exile, you will walk along centuries-old trails that were used by the Huguenots during their flight to Switzerland or Germany.
Day 1 Arrival in Poët-Laval.
Welcome in the late afternoon.
Visit Poët-Laval, considered one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Invitation to the Museum of Protestantism. Created in 1961, this museum presents the major periods in the history of Protestantism in the Dauphiné region.
Dinner in the old village and overnight stay in guest rooms.
Day 2 Walk from Poët-Laval to Bourdeaux
22 km stage with a 750 m elevation gain (level 4/5).
You will take the old road that once linked Poët-Laval to Dieulefit through the Vitrouillères forest. You will enjoy the shade of the undergrowth for much of the route.
You will pass through Dieulefit, a pottery centre. The GR9 will take you up the slopes of the Montagne des Ventes to the church at Comps. You will then walk along a bridle path through the undergrowth, which runs along the Comps plateau to the Col de Boutière. Finally, the last part of the walk is all downhill, taking you gently to Bourdeaux.
Dinner and overnight stay in a 2-star guesthouse in the heart of the old town.
Day 3 Walk around Bourdeaux
Short Protestant circuit. 7 km stage with a 170 m elevation gain (level 1/5).
This walk offers an introduction to Protestantism through the marks left by this religion throughout history. The route is very well signposted and offers beautiful views of the Bourdeaux countryside.
This short route will leave you time to visit the charming village of Bourdeaux with its tour of the old village.
A taxi will then take you to your first accommodation in Poët-Laval.
