Additional information

The abbey church of Cruas, a romanesque architecture’s masterpiece, demonstrates the monks of Cruas’ troubled history. The Cruas abbey lived from the 10th century, until its dissolution through the 18th century.
The lower part of the church was rediscovered 40 years ago during archaeological digs which let us see anew the grand monastic stand (only two remain in France), forgotten for 300 years.
Must-sees :
• The crypt and its bestiary and priant (11c)
• The monastic stand and its capitals (12c)
• The mosaic depicting the Garden of Eden (12c)
• The frescos (15c)
