Megève's Calvary path, inspired by the Sacred Mount of Varallo in Val Sesia, is unique in the Rhône-Alps region. It has been listed in the European inventory of Sacred Mounts and the inventory of historical monuments since 1988. Major restoration work took place between 2001 and 2007 and brought the site back to its initial appearance. The chapels and oratories have been meticulously renovated both inside and outside and the surrounding areas redesigned to restore the landscape of the 19th century.
